Rocky Rocked!

Firstly, the weather was fantastic and we finally got to enjoy sunny days after the week of rain! At the Zoo we saw Aussie original fauna (i.e. Emu, Kangaroos, Wallaby, Dingo’s & Koala Bears! Found out that Koala’s are actually endangered species and even in Aussie you have a better chance to see Koalas at a Zoo than in wild.

Mt. Morgan was very interesting, where we learned about Gold Mine & Capricorn Caves and even got to see Dinosaur foot prints! In fact, Fireclay Caverns has the best concentration of early Jurassic Park tracks in Australia. The only thing concerned us was amount of bats flying around 🙂

The Vocation day at the Rockhampton Base Hospital allowed me to get a better picture about the whole credentialing process for public hospitals in central Queensland. Thank you to Dr. Neal Schultz (Gen Surgeon), Vicki & Carmel in Administration Office for their time and genuine desire to educate me about every aspect of their important jobs!

Last, but not least, thank you to my host family – Karen, Lyol & Julie Page – for making me feel at home & opportunity to see Rocky at night from the top of the hill. It was absolute breathtaking. All I can say is WOW! Picture doesn’t do a justice…but

Best, Larissa 🙂
